About .co
According to Wikipedia, .co is the country-code top-level domain (ccTLD) assigned to Colombia. IANA lists the Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies (MinTIC), based in Bogotá, as its ccTLD manager.
2025-06 – 2025-10-04 · Change of operator / ownership
MinTIC’s tender gave the .co licence (10 years) to Equipo PuntoCo (Team Internet / CCI); GoDaddy Registry’s role ended and 3.3 million names were migrated by 2025-10-04.
Scope: The registry operator for .co (chosen by tender by Colombia’s Ministry of ICT, MinTIC).
GoDaddy Registry’s post of 2025-06-13 says its role as the technical steward of .CO is coming to a close and that it would work with the incoming service provider on a smooth hand-off later that year.[1]
Team Internet’s release of 2025-10-19 says MINTIC selected Equipo PuntoCo, a partnership between Team Internet and the Colombian registrar CCI, to operate .co after a tender in June 2025, with a 10-year licence.[2]
The same release says 3.3 million .co names were migrated in 29 hours, completing on 2025-10-04 at 05:01 UTC, and that the transition was led by CentralNic Registry.[2]
2020-04-06 – 2020-08 · Change of operator / ownership
GoDaddy announced in April 2020 that it was acquiring Neustar’s registry business (which includes .co) and completed the deal in August 2020.
Scope: Ownership of the registry services business (Neustar Registry) behind .co; the manager IANA records for .co remains Colombia’s Ministry of ICT.
GoDaddy’s press release of 2020-04-06 announced the acquisition of Neustar’s registry business and said its portfolio of top-level domains includes .biz, .co, .in, .nyc and .us.[1]
GoDaddy’s second-quarter 2020 results release says GoDaddy completed the acquisition of Neustar’s registry business in August for US$215.9 million in cash, subject to final adjustments.[2]
