About .eu
.eu is recorded by IANA as a country-code top-level domain; IANA lists EURid vzw as its ccTLD manager. According to the categories listed on EURid’s help page, an organisation established in one of the EU Member States, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway can register a .eu (or .ею, .ευ) domain name. Another listed category is an individual residing in one of those countries, or a citizen of one of them (as of 2 August 2021).

Who can register (second-level registrations)
Registrants must be an organisation established in, or an individual residing in or a citizen of, an EU Member State, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway.
From 2021-01-01 EURid suspended .eu names whose registrants had GB / GI as country code; those not reinstated in time were withdrawn on 2021-07-01 and released on 2022-01-03.
Scope: How EURid handled .eu domain names whose registrants had GB / GI as country code after the UK left the EU.
According to EURid’s notice of 2021-02-10, on 2021-01-01 over 81 000 .eu domain names whose registrants had GB / GI as country code were moved to SUSPENDED status, and over 8 000 had been reinstated by the date of the notice.[1]
The same notice says the SUSPENDED status, previously due to last until 2021-03-31, was extended to 2021-06-30; a suspended name can no longer support services such as website and email, but may still be reinstated if the registration data is updated to meet the eligibility criteria.[1]
EURid’s final reminder of 2021-06-16 says that names whose registration details were not updated by 2021-06-30 would be WITHDRAWN on 2021-07-01.[2]
EURid’s announcement of 2022-01-03 says the Brexit-related names moved to WITHDRAWN on 2021-07-01 were revoked and released that day, with about 48 000 names becoming available for general registration on a first-come, first-served basis.[3]

.eu price notes

Renewal is well above the first-year price, so compare on the 3-year cost.

PublishedThe root zone publishes a DS record for .eu, meaning the registry has registered a DNSSEC trust anchor with the root. Whether you can turn on DNSSEC for your own domain depends on the registrar.
Authoritative name servers (5)
Name servers the root zone lists for this extension. Addresses are the glue records in the root zone file; an address type that is not listed is one the root zone does not give, not one the server lacks.
.eu is not on the extension list in China’s MIIT “Chinese Internet domain name system” page. Alibaba Cloud’s filing guide says suffixes not on the list cannot be used for ICP filing and that the registrar must also be approved by MIIT; being listed is a precondition only, not a guarantee that filing succeeds.
